Opportunity for small businesses as UK spends £1 billion a month online
Britain is leading the way in online spending. Internet sales in the UK are now topping £1 billion a month, which puts them ahead of the rest of Europe.Last year, Britons spent £12.8 billion, which is a 75% increase from 2005 and it is expected to increase by 199% by 2012.
Behind the UK, Germany have the second highest online sales at £10.3 billion, with France coming third with £5.5 billion.
With the current level of online spending and the expected increase it is vital for small businesses to have a presence online, promote their products in an effective way and have the suitable online payment system in place.
