IT Training
When was the last time you went on an IT training course? I bet it was a long time ago, if ever. For many managers and business owners their own self development is always at the bottom of a list of things they need to do, and almost always gets neglected.
For members of staff a good IT training course can be an immediate boost to their efficiency. A good grounding in a word processor or spreadsheet can often take hours off the time it takes to produce a piece of work. For more technical team members being up to date with the latest technology may be the best way of preventing IT security risks occurring in your business.
People do have different training needs and certainly learn in different ways. For some they would get bored sitting in a classroom for 5 days but could learn as much from a good book. IT training should therefore be seen as an important part of people’s development but they should have some flexibility to choosing what and how they study. Some companies offer a training budget that individual employees can spend on approved courses each year.
I have used these methods for staff development and they have gone down very well. If you are worried about the cost then consider how much more efficient someone can be if they can put in practice their new skills. If you are worried that a newly trained member of staff may leave then it is possible to put in place an agreement that a certain amount of the training costs can be recovered if they leave soon after the course.
Do give your IT training some more thought. You may be pleasantly surprised with the outcome.
